After Your First Visit to BioMechanics – 3 Things To Speed Up Your Recovery

If you’re like 99% of our patients, your 1st visit to BioMechanics is on a day where you have pain that’s making it difficult to do your normal activities (If you came in for wellness care, congrats on being proactive in maintaining the health of your body – the only vehicle your get in this life).

You’re already a little crabby that your body is letting you down. Then you had to fill out a ton of paperwork (sorry about that – we try to keep it to a minimum), told a stranger about your problems, and did a whole bunch of weird movement stuff. Then we gave you our best possible treatment based on your unique circumstances. Next, we need your help…

After Your First Visit to BioMechanics – 3 Things To Speed Up Your Recovery

Happy/Sad IconDon’t Overreact – Whether you feel like we worked a miracle on your body or you’re feeling a little worse. Both reactions are normal. Remember that muscle, bone and joint healing happens over weeks or months (not in one treatment). If you are concerned about how your body is reacting to a treatment please contact us.  We check phone messages frequently even at odd hours.
Water Bottle IconHydrate – Your body is ~60% water for a reason. Staying hydrated lets all of your body’s systems operate more efficiently. Being properly hydrated helps to flush inflammation (read: swelling) that contains pain generating waste products out of your injured parts.
Walk/Movement IconDon’t Stop Moving – Many of your body’s parts (joints, ligaments, tendons, discs, etc) don’t have enough of a blood supply to deliver the building blocks needed for repair. They heal slowly. They heal poorly. Sometimes, they don’t heal at all. The rhythmic loading and unloading of movement creates a pump to deliver essential supplies to your damaged parts.

By doing these 3 things, you can help speed up the REPAIR phase of healing.
